DSA Partnerships with Students and the Academy (DSA PSAs)

The classroom provides a platform for these important conversations with faculty and students.

Classrooms and faculty meetings provide a space and platform for important conversations with students and colleagues. The Division of Student Affairs Partnerships with Students & the Academy (DSA PSA) initiative offers opportunities for you to request a presentation where student affairs leaders will share expertise, promote programs and services, and/or deliver tailored presentations to meet your informational and/or instructional needs.

The Division of Student Affairs advances student development and engages students for a lifetime of learning and discovery. Whether you want us to partner with you during a meeting, or your class, or if you would like us to take over; invite student affairs educators into your meeting or classroom. We offer presentations on a variety of topics including student leadership & engagement, health & wellness, student crisis & support services, student equity programs and possible academic partnerships. Each session can be structured as a 30 minute introduction or a 1 hour orientation. We value our collaboration with campus partners across campus. Please let us know how we can best support your work with students and colleagues. Contact dsapsa@csusb.edu with any questions or concerns.

Student Affairs departments offer a variety of health and wellness programs and services that provide students with tools and resources that assist them in meeting their academic and personal goals. These units within the Division of Student Affairs partner frequently to assist students experiencing challenges to their success, such as a personal crisis, health issues, or financial concerns that may create barriers. These departments also provide ongoing support services and important prevention programs to promote individual success and well-being. All departments and programs work within a framework of equity that recognize and honor students’ lived experiences and respond to their needs while also providing consultation and support to faculty and staff as they promote student success.

Student Affairs fills a major role in responding to the external demands on students and in helping design the best learning environment for students. To participate fully in this endeavor, the Division of Student Affairs is composed of units directly designed to assist student populations who are first generation, and low income, or who have been historically marginalized within the higher educational system at large. These equity-focused units provide academic advising, case management, peer mentorship, success workshops, and other educational programming to support the needs of students with a particular equity focused lens.

Sometimes the academic journey can seem to be a lonely one. Students, faculty, and staff often inquire what resources or programs are available to engage students and increase their sense of belonging and connection to the University.  This session will highlight the DSA units that work together as a village to encourage student involvement and engagement and the connection between involvement and graduation.
