Program Description
The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program is a federally funded program that provides job opportunities to eligible undergraduate and graduate students. Students must meet all eligibility requirements and demonstrate financial need to participate in the program. FWS student employees are placed in various departments on campus or may participate in the off campus program. FWS earnings can be used to help offset a portion of the student’s educational expenses. FWS at CSUSB also provides opportunities for students to secure academic or career-related jobs, and develop job skills. Students may also apply to participate in the Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) Program as a tutor in local school districts or tutorial agency. Interested students may apply by completing a separate application to be considered for this program: Salaries begin at $15.00 for student assistants and $16.00 per hour for Instructional Student Assistants (ISA). Student workers may work a maximum of 20 hours per week.
Work-Study participants should approach their job assignment with a sense of responsibility that would be expected in any job. To be considered for the Work-Study programs, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate on the FAFSA your interest in part-time employment as part of your financial aid.
