Fall 2023 Therapy Groups at CAPS   

All groups require a pre-group appointment with the group leader.     

Call CAPS at (909) 537-5040 to schedule your pre-group appointment.     

Groups are designated below if they are in-person or virtual.

Overcoming Anxiety Group – In Person   -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Mondays

Do you find yourself constantly worrying, stressed, overwhelmed, or in a panic? You’re not alone! This group is for you to find new ways to manage anxiety (including overthinking, social anxiety, and panic attacks). Come, check it out!   

Healing Together: Depression Support Group – In Person   -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Have you been struggling with feelings of sadness, numbness, or loss of interest in what you previously enjoyed? This group will help you recognize you're not alone, enable you to process and understand your feelings in much more depth, and provide you with the tools and resources necessary to cope and heal.  

LGBTQ+ Group – In Person 

Tuesdays

This group provides a safe, empowering, and confidential space for those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, or pansexual to receive support with identity, coming out, and relationship issues.   

Building Resilience After Trauma – In Person  -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

If you have experienced or witnessed a life-threatening situation, you may still find yourself struggling in many ways. You may have difficulty moving on with your life – regardless of whether it happened years ago or even in the past year. Join this interactive, safe, and supportive group to engage in evidence-based practices to heal, build resilience, and work through the traumas that keep you from living your full potential.   

Rewriting Grief – In Person  -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Death and grief are normal experiences but may also be emotional and overwhelming. There is no “right way” to grieve, only to honor and grow with it. Join this eight-week group for support and connection with others who have also experienced the death of someone they know.   

Man II Man - Virtual -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Wednesdays

Come and share your experiences of being a man in today's world. Learn together in this group about the challenges and pressures facing men and the tools we use to improve the quality of our relationships with others and with ourselves, with our academic success, our work, our health and our lives. 

Students on the Autism Spectrum – In Person   -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Wednesdays  
1:00-2:20 p.m.

This group is intended for students on the autism spectrum to have a non-judgmental and empowering environment where they can openly explore various topics, including self-care, academic and social competence, self-advocacy, and interpersonal skills. Students will have a safe space to provide and receive support. The group will meet weekly and is not a drop-in group.  

First in the Pack – In Person  -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Connect and create community with other first gen students and have honest conversations about the unique struggles of going to college. This group provides safe space to empower, educate and create success during your college years.

Befriending Yourself – In Person  -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

4:00-5:20 p.m.   

Many individuals know how to extend love and kindness toward others but find it difficult to provide compassion towards themselves. This group is about practicing self-compassion and speaking kindly to yourself. You will become aware of how and why we talk to ourselves the way we do. You will learn ways to turn love inward and embrace who you are, rather than who you think you should be.   

AMAC (Adults Molested as Children) Group  – Virtual  -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Thursdays

This group provides a safe, empowering, and supportive environment for survivors of childhood sexual abuse to continue to grow along the path to increased self-empowerment. This group will decrease feelings of isolation while building collective inner strength, self-worth and healthy coping skills to thrive in life.   

Mindful Yotes – In Person -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

This group aims to introduce you to various forms of meditation and mindfuness practices that will increase awareness and compassion for self and others as well as reduce feelings of anxiety and disconnection. No prior experience necessary! 

Journaling for Growth – Virtual -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Do you struggle with depression and/or anxiety? Do you feel stuck and unmotivated? Are you facing big decisions in life, and you don’t know what to do? Join this group to learn journaling skills that will help you gain mental clarity, creativity, motivation, purpose, and greater joy in living.     

Grad Student Success Series

Are you ready to rock Graduate School? Then this virtual workshop series is for you. Come join fellow Graduate Students for a 3-part series focused on supporting your academic success while maintaining life balance. It is an opportunity to connect with other graduate students and to learn skills to reduce and manage stress in a safe, casual space. This series is provided by CAPS in partnership with the Office of Graduate Studies.

Join this weekly drop-in group to have a place to connect with other student veterans on any topic or issue on your mind.

All-Gender Empowerment Support Group – Virtual  -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Thursdays – Beginning 9/28/2023
12:00-1:30 p.m.

Empowerment support group for students that are survivors of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, or stalking. The group provides a confidential space for students to connect with other survivors. Give support. Receive support. Increase coping skills. Share your story- or feel free not to.

Healthy Relationships Group – In Person -- CLOSED FOR FALL 2023

Thursdays
2:30-3:50 p.m.

This group focuses on aspects of healthy romantic relationships and provides a brave space for students to share struggles and successes, lessons and losses from current and past experiences. This group will integrate discussion-based learning as well as interactive activities and evidence-based relationship tools.
